Delivery

Marbre Import organises the delivery of marble and natural stone throughout France and, where stated in the quotation, elsewhere in Europe. For clients based abroad, we can coordinate directly with your architect, contractor or nominated site representative and keep you informed in English.

Stone is heavy, valuable and naturally variable. Before transport is confirmed, we review the destination, access constraints, package dimensions and weight, timetable and agreed unloading method.

Standard delivery procedure

1. Appointment: the carrier contacts the nominated recipient to agree a delivery slot. An adult or authorised site representative must be present.
2. Access and unloading: the quotation identifies the vehicle and unloading scope. Tail-lift and pallet-truck delivery normally ends at the safest accessible kerbside or agreed unloading point. Restricted access, crane handling, timed delivery and internal handling must be arranged separately.
3. Inspection: inspect crates, pallets and visible pieces in the driver’s presence before signing the delivery note. Compare the number of packages with the transport documents and record any visible damage precisely.

A general note such as “subject to unpacking” may not be sufficient for a transport claim.

What should you do if damage is visible?

1. Write precise reservations on the delivery note: identify the crate, the type of damage and the approximate number of affected pieces.
2. Take clear photographs immediately: photograph the packaging and damaged stone before anything is moved.
3. Send the evidence to Marbre Import without delay: include the signed delivery note and photographs so that the claim can be reviewed with the carrier.
4. Contact us before the driver leaves whenever possible: the procedure and time limits stated in the contractual and transport documents take precedence.

For transport cover to apply

• An authorised recipient must be present.
• The shipment must be inspected in the driver’s presence.
• Visible damage requires precise written reservations and immediate photographs.
• The delivery note must be signed only after inspection.
• Vague reservations may prevent compensation.
