French rules generally follow the project location, even when the client, architect or supplier is based abroad. Other countries use different legal and technical frameworks.

From law to contract
Laws and regulations are mandatory. Standards may become binding through regulation, contract or accepted professional practice. NF DTU documents describe common construction work within a defined scope.
Project specifications, drawings, technical assessments and manufacturer instructions add requirements.
NF DTU, CPT and assessed systems
An NF DTU does not cover every stone, format, substrate or exposure. CPT/CSTB documents and technical assessments may govern particular products or systems.
Work outside recognised scope requires documented technical justification and clear responsibility.

Responsibilities are not transferred by a product sheet
Designers specify and coordinate; suppliers identify and document products; contractors verify site conditions and execute; clients approve choices within informed limits. Exact responsibilities depend on contracts and law.
