About Black Galaxy Granite
Origin and appearance
Black Galaxy is a dark natural stone quarried in the Prakasam region of Andhra Pradesh in southern India and formed during the Precambrian.
Its deep black ground contains evenly distributed bronze-gold bronzite crystals, creating the characteristic galaxy effect.
The crystalline inclusions shift subtly with light and viewing angle, giving polished surfaces depth and movement.
It is one of the most widely specified black stones, alongside Shanxi Black, which offers a more uniform, non-sparkling appearance.
Applications and specification
Black Galaxy is widely used for kitchen worktops, islands, bars, floors, walls and bespoke architectural features.
For large-format floors and walls, careful joint planning and coordinated lot selection preserve the visual continuity of the black background.
A polished finish maximises the bronze-gold reflections; honed and textured finishes create a quieter architectural effect.
Exterior applications require an appropriate textured, slip-resistant finish and technical validation for the selected lot, climate and installation.
Marbre Import can select premium lots with a deep black ground and controlled crystal distribution according to the project brief.
