Stone properties are only part of the system

Natural stone is mineral and non-combustible, but façade fire performance also depends on insulation, membranes, cavity barriers, fixings and backing construction.

Wind and seismic safety depend on panel geometry, mass, support, anchors, joints and structural movement.

Wind actions

Pressure and suction vary with building height, location, terrain, zones and local edge effects. The design must transfer these actions from stone through fixings to the primary support.

Panels and anchors require representative properties, safety factors and checks for combined self-weight and wind.

Seismic behaviour

Heavy brittle components need positive restraint and enough movement capacity to follow building drift without impact or detachment.

Connections, clearances and adjacent elements should be assessed as a system. Existing buildings may require survey and testing before retrofit.

Eurocodes and national rules

Eurocodes provide design frameworks but do not automatically supply every stone property or façade detail. Use current standards, national annexes and approved test data.

Outside Europe, follow the project jurisdiction. International clients should not assume French rules travel with the supplier.

Evidence and inspection

Coordinate calculations, tests, fixing drawings, prototypes and site pull-out checks where appropriate. Define responsibility for design changes.

Record installed anchors and inspect concealed work. Safety-critical systems need a planned maintenance and façade-inspection strategy.
