Classic Light Travertine
Origin and appearance of Classic Light Travertine
Travertine has been used in architecture since antiquity, with Colosseum in Rome.
Travertine is often grouped commercially with marble and limestone but forms through a distinct geological process based on calcium-carbonate deposition.
Its characteristic pores are created as carbon dioxide escapes during formation.
It forms around warm-water springs as calcium carbonate precipitates. The resulting pores may be left open or filled according to the finish and intended use.
Its layered structure records seasonal deposition and may include fossil traces.
Characteristics and uses of Classic Light Travertine
It is suitable for interior and selected exterior applications, subject to the lot, finish, climate and installation system.
Vein-cut and cross-cut slabs offer two very different visual expressions from the same block.
Classic Light Travertine is a widely specified pale Turkish selection.
Its consistent cream-beige colour brings warmth and luminosity to large surfaces.
The pores may be filled with resin or cement, allowing the appearance and performance to be tailored to the design.
