Blue Calcite: mineral origin and appearance
La Blue Calcite is a decorative natural stone prized for its soft, milky and luminous blue colour. Depending on the slab, it may feature lighter areas, blue-grey movement, white nuances and occasional translucency suited to distinctive interior features.
Rather than a material for heavily used surfaces, Blue Calcite should be specified as an atmospheric statement material. Its calming colour softens architectural volumes and adds a subtle mineral presence to bedrooms, decorative bathrooms, wellness areas, wall niches, headboards, protected panels and bespoke furniture.
Calcite is calcium carbonate, with the chemical formula CaCO₃. It belongs to the same mineral family as limestone and marble, but its lower hardness requires careful specification and protection from scratches, impact and acidic products.

Is Blue Calcite suitable for a worktop?
It is generally not recommended. Calcite is soft and sensitive to acids. For a heavily used worktop, consider granite, quartzite or another more resistant stone.

Sometimes, but only after testing the actual lot. Translucency depends on thickness, internal structure and slab consistency.
How should Blue Calcite be maintained?
Use a soft cloth and a neutral product if required. Avoid vinegar, lemon, limescale removers, abrasives and aggressive cleaners.
