Blue Calcite

Blue Calcite slabs, decorative panels and made-to-measure pieces.
A soft, luminous blue natural stone selected for feature walls, decorative objects, protected furniture and high-end interior projects. Pricing depends on the lot, finish, thickness and quantity.

Blue Calcite: mineral origin and appearance

La Blue Calcite is a decorative natural stone prized for its soft, milky and luminous blue colour. Depending on the slab, it may feature lighter areas, blue-grey movement, white nuances and occasional translucency suited to distinctive interior features.

Rather than a material for heavily used surfaces, Blue Calcite should be specified as an atmospheric statement material. Its calming colour softens architectural volumes and adds a subtle mineral presence to bedrooms, decorative bathrooms, wellness areas, wall niches, headboards, protected panels and bespoke furniture.

Calcite is calcium carbonate, with the chemical formula CaCO₃. It belongs to the same mineral family as limestone and marble, but its lower hardness requires careful specification and protection from scratches, impact and acidic products.

Blue Calcite selection by Marbre Import

Marbre Import assists with the selection of Blue Calcite slabs according to the design, intended application, desired translucency and technical constraints. Approval is always based on the actual lot: colour, variation, natural fissures, thickness, finish and potential for backlighting.

Available finishes

  • Polished to reveal the depth and luminosity of the stone.
  • Honed for a softer, matt and architectural appearance.
  • Made to measure subject to the selected lot, thickness, fragility and intended application.

For architects and designers

Assessment of the material, colour palette, lighting, thickness, layout and decorative integration.

For interior designers

Pairs beautifully with light timber, travertine, white marble, mineral finishes, understated brass and indirect lighting.

For discerning private clients

Selection of a rare, calming stone with clear guidance on appropriate use and maintenance.

Is Blue Calcite suitable for a worktop?

It is generally not recommended. Calcite is soft and sensitive to acids. For a heavily used worktop, consider granite, quartzite or another more resistant stone.

Can Blue Calcite be backlit?

Sometimes, but only after testing the actual lot. Translucency depends on thickness, internal structure and slab consistency.

How should Blue Calcite be maintained?

Use a soft cloth and a neutral product if required. Avoid vinegar, lemon, limescale removers, abrasives and aggressive cleaners.
