About Blue Pearl Granite

Origin and appearance

Blue Pearl is a Norwegian larvikite, commercially sold as granite, quarried in the Vestfold and Larvik region. It was formed during the Permian. Its blue-grey to black ground contains large feldspar crystals that create distinctive blue flashes.
The tightly interlocked crystalline structure gives the stone both durability and a highly recognisable visual depth.

Its relatively consistent colour works easily with timber, metal, neutral surfaces and other natural stones.

The material may also be marketed as Blue OpaleLabrador Blue or Marina Pearl.
Blue Pearl is valued for premium worktops, islands, floors, walls and architectural cladding where the blue reflections can respond to changing light.

The blue feldspar flashes give this dark stone a lively, contemporary character rather than a flat black appearance.

Applications and specification

Blue Pearl is widely used for worktops and kitchen islands, as well as floors, walls, stairs and technically validated façade systems.

A polished finish maximises the blue reflections, while honed, flamed and brushed finishes may be specified according to the intended application.
