Calacatta Macchia Vecchia Marble
Calacatta Macchia Vecchia Marble: origin and quarry area
This prestigious white marble is quarried in the Carrara mountains of Tuscany, alongside Carrara C, Carrara CD and Statuario. It belongs to the wider Calacatta family but is distinguished by its warmer, more expressive veining.
The material has been known since the late seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries. Quarry output is limited, reinforcing Calacatta Macchia Vecchia’s rarity and its status as a marble for carefully considered luxury projects.
It is also marketed as Calacatta Macchia, Calacatta Vecchio and Calacatta Vecchia Macchia.
Characteristics and applications of Calacatta Macchia Vecchia Marble
Calacatta Macchia Vecchia has a warm white ground animated by grey, beige and gold veining. The complexity and variation of this movement give each slab a rich, unmistakably luxurious character.
Polished and honed finishes are the most common choices: polishing intensifies the gold and grey movement, while honing creates a softer, more understated surface.
The marble is primarily specified for premium interiors. Exterior or poolside use requires project-specific validation of the lot, finish, climate, water treatment and maintenance conditions.
