Patagonia Quartzite: origin and appearance

Patagonia Quartzite is an exceptional natural stone from Brazil. Like Alpinus Quartzite, it is quarried in the state of Minas Gerais. Its instantly recognisable appearance results from a remarkable natural assembly of minerals.

Its structure combines fragments of quartz, feldspar, mica and darker minerals, warmed by subtle oxide tones. Pale beige and ivory areas alternate with grey and brown movement and, above all, striking quartz crystals.

Its high quartz content places Patagonia Quartzite among the quartzites and gives selected slabs remarkable translucency. These crystalline areas can transmit daylight or be enhanced with a carefully engineered backlighting system for a distinctive luxury installation.

Characteristics and applications of Patagonia Quartzite

Every Patagonia Quartzite slab is unique. The proportion and position of translucent quartz vary from block to block, making visual approval of the actual lot essential.

Crystal tones range from white to orange-pink. The warmer selections, sometimes marketed as Patagonia Pink, are especially valued for their soft gold and blush nuances.

Patagonia Quartzite is a highly resistant natural stone suitable for a broad range of premium interior applications, including:

  • backlit wall cladding (decorative panels),
  • bar or counter with integrated backlighting,
  • kitchen and island with integrated lighting,
  • bespoke decorative elements, including feature walls, niches and stone furniture.

A polished finish is most often specified because it maximises depth and highlights the crystals. Subject to the project, Patagonia Quartzite may also be supplied honed, sandblasted, bush-hammered, aged or with another technically appropriate finish.
