About Red Verona Marble
Origin and appearance
Red Verona, also known internationally as Rosso Verona, is a compact decorative limestone quarried in the Verona region of northern Italy and commercially sold as marble.
The stone was formed during the Jurassic period and contains a distinctive fossil structure.
Its red ground is punctuated by lighter nodules and fossils, including characteristic ammonites.
Tonal variation ranges from warm brick red to deeper burgundy, sometimes accompanied by subtle yellow or green mineral accents.
Ammonite spirals give each slab an individual decorative character, particularly visible on a polished finish.
Applications and specification
Used in Italian architecture since Roman times, Red Verona Marble remains valued for floors, walls, stairs, fireplaces and decorative stonework. Technical suitability should be checked for the selected lot and application.
Its long architectural history is visible throughout northern Italy, including many historic interiors and public spaces in Venice.
It is also used for carving, engraved details, shower trays, basins, fountains and patterned floors, often paired with Botticino Semi-Classico Marble.
The rich red tone brings warmth and depth to both traditional and contemporary interiors.
