Plan natural-stone logistics from packing and transport to storage, lifting, manual handling, sequencing and protection on site.
Logistics begins in the design
Piece size, weight, access and installation sequence influence joints and fabrication. Confirm road, crane, lift, doorway and floor restrictions before approving large slabs.
Plan who provides lifting equipment, temporary storage and competent operators.
Packing and transport
Crates and A-frames must support pieces in the correct orientation, separate finished faces and protect edges without trapping harmful moisture.
Packing lists should match piece numbers and installation zones. Loads must be restrained and opened safely.
Storage on site
Use stable, level supports with sufficient capacity. Keep crates away from traffic and excavations, and protect stone from impact, contamination and uncontrolled weather.
Some slabs must remain near vertical; some carved pieces require shaped supports. Never assume identical storage for every component.

Lifting and installation
Select clamps, suction equipment, slings or inserts for stone finish, weight and geometry. Verify rated capacity and manufacturer instructions.
Trial lifts and tag lines help control rotation. Permanent lifting inserts require design and traceability.
Documentation and site culture
Keep weights, centre-of-gravity information, lifting drawings, inspections and operator authorisations available. Stop when conditions differ from the plan.
Good housekeeping, protected routes and timely delivery reduce both accidents and damage to expensive stone.
