Kashmir White Granite: description
Origin and appearance of Kashmir White Granite
Kashmir White is a light Indian granite quarried in the Melur area of Tamil Nadu. Despite its trade name, it does not originate from Kashmir.
Its pale background makes it one of the lighter granites available for projects seeking a softer alternative to uniform white stone.
Fine grey-beige mineral movement is punctuated by characteristic burgundy-garnet flecks. Colour and pattern vary noticeably from lot to lot.
Characteristics and applications
Kashmir White can be considered for interior and selected exterior applications, including worktops, floors, stairs and walls. Polished finishes enhance the mineral detail, while honed or textured finishes create a quieter appearance.
Quarry availability and lot appearance can fluctuate. Early reservation and visual approval are recommended for projects requiring several matching slabs.
Its granite composition makes it suitable for many demanding applications, but thickness, finish, slip performance, weather exposure and installation must be confirmed for the project.
Its light background and irregular mineral movement distinguish Kashmir White from more uniform granites and make careful slab layout especially valuable.
For a warmer and more strongly coloured alternative, consider Kashmir Gold.
