White Onyx
White Onyx: origin and appearance
White Onyx is one of the purest and most luminous varieties within the onyx family.
Quarried in South Africa and related to the agate family, it is highly prized in interior design and decorative arts for its translucency and fine crystalline appearance.
The colour of White Onyx ranges from pure white to soft grey-white, depending on the selected lot.
Circular and concentric bands create cloud-like movement and give the surface a distinctly silky appearance.
The pattern changes with the direction of cutting, giving each slab a lively, individual character that becomes especially striking when backlit.
Characteristics and applications of White Onyx
White Onyx can be used for wall cladding, decorative flooring, vanity tops, bars and bespoke furniture, subject to technical approval and the expected maintenance level.
Its defining quality is translucency. Marbre Import therefore develops backlit onyx installations using warm-white, cool-white or colour-controllable LED systems to suit the desired atmosphere.
For non-backlit flooring, White Onyx must be installed with an appropriate white adhesive to avoid altering its appearance.
Its fine texture brings exceptional softness and luminosity to an interior, placing White Onyx among the most distinctive decorative stones.
Selected slabs may also be custom-tinted by colouring the reinforcing resin in pink, blue or violet. The translucent white base carries the colour through the stone while retaining its natural movement.

How should the actual stone lot be approved?
Approval should consider the available lot, colour, veining, format, finish, thickness and intended application. Marbre Import can support selection with slab photographs, samples and technical data.
Can this stone be used in kitchens and bathrooms?
Suitability depends on the stone, finish, treatment, expected maintenance and exposure to staining or acidic products. Technical guidance is recommended before ordering.
Why is pricing provided on request?
Pricing varies with the lot, origin, availability, thickness, finish, quantities, fabrication and transport. A tailored quotation reflects the actual project rather than a theoretical list price.
