Guatemala Green Marble :
Origin and appearance of Guatemala Green Marble
Despite its commercial name, Guatemala Green Marble is not quarried in Central America. It comes from Rajasthan, India, a major source of granite, marble and other decorative stones.
The material is extracted from several quarries and is marketed under various names, including Rajasthan Green, Indian Green Guatemala, Verde Imperial and Verde Serpentine.
Its deep, relatively consistent green ground is animated by lighter, luminous veining. A polished finish intensifies the contrast and gives the stone a rich, sophisticated depth.
Characteristics and uses of Guatemala Green Marble
Geologically, this stone is a serpentinite, but it is commonly traded and specified internationally as a green marble. Its mineral structure and behaviour should be considered when selecting the finish, adhesive and maintenance regime.
It can be used for a wide range of interior applications and selected exterior projects, subject to technical review. Appropriate sealing and pH-neutral care products are recommended, as acidic substances may damage the surface.
Designers often specify it in bathrooms, spas and statement interiors to introduce a deep natural colour and an exotic, luxurious character.
Guatemala Green Marble offers a strong decorative impact and is frequently used in high-end hotels, restaurants, boutiques and residential interiors.
It may also be considered for selected pool surrounds or linings, subject to specialist assessment of the finish, installation system and water treatment.
