Red Alicante Marble: description
Origin and appearance of Red Alicante Marble
Red Alicante is a compact decorative limestone quarried in the Alicante region of south-eastern Spain. Internationally marketed as marble, it dates from the Eocene period.
Like Black Marquina, Red Alicante is crossed by contrasting white calcite veins that stand out against the richly coloured background.
Its fine-grained ground ranges from yellow-red and brown-red to deeper red, with white calcite veins and occasional fossil detail.
The background is naturally clouded rather than completely uniform, giving the finished surface movement and depth.
Characteristics and applications
Red Alicante has a long architectural history in Spain. Current availability and colour character depend on quarry production and the selected lot, so early material approval is recommended.
Interior designers use Red Alicante to introduce warmth and a strong material accent. The shade can vary from brick red to deeper wine tones depending on the extraction area and lot.
Marbre Import can present available slabs from a coordinated lot, helping the project team approve colour, vein distribution and bookmatching before fabrication.
Well suited to bathrooms, living spaces, fireplaces and statement surfaces, Red Alicante pairs particularly well with timber, brass, cream stones and black marbles.

How should the actual stone lot be approved?
Approval should consider the available lot, colour, veining, format, finish, thickness and intended application. Marbre Import can support selection with slab photographs, samples and technical data.
Can this stone be used in kitchens and bathrooms?
Suitability depends on the stone, finish, treatment, expected maintenance and exposure to staining or acidic products. Technical guidance is recommended before ordering.
Why is pricing provided on request?
Pricing varies with the lot, origin, availability, thickness, finish, quantities, fabrication and transport. A tailored quotation reflects the actual project rather than a theoretical list price.
